Hi UTe Barn

HI-UTE RANCH

Protected in 2005

Acreage: 163

Summit County, UT

The preservation of this property, its proximity to development, and its location along one of the West’s most traveled corridors, makes this project one of the most significant conservation projects to occur in Summit County and perhaps Utah. In stark contrast to the big box commercial and apartment complexes, which have sprung up on its borders, the Hi-Ute Ranch is a last vestige of significant open space in Summit County. Remaining unaltered from the pioneer era, through two world wars and most recently the 2002 Olympics. The Hi-Ute Ranch was a top priority for Utah Open Lands since the organization’s inception in 1990. The Ranch is now safe from being lost to a jumble of asphalt and concrete, forever.
