Smith Teasdale

Smith family teasdale preserve

Protected in 2025

Acreage: 55

Wayne County, UT

You can see the Smith Family Property from Teasdale and Torrey and from scenic highway 24. It’s a landscape of pinyon-juniper woodland set alongside a striking mesa with eroded shale skirts commonly associated with the Colorado Plateau.

This small but mighty parcel includes a little stream lined with narrowleaf cottonwoods and willows, woodland that is home to mule deer and jackrabbits, and a red-yellow mesa that supports peregrine falcons and other birds of prey.

Judith and Charles Smith purchased the property in 1988 to provide a quiet, scenic respite for their family. In the decades following, they've come to recognize the value that this land holds: 55 acres of quiet, scenic refuge, pristine habitat for wildlife, and amazing Utah panoramas. In 2025, they preserved the property so it would retain these values forever.

Utah’s iconic views aren’t confined to government protections like national parks. They continue across private lands, where landowners like the Smiths play a key role in protecting them.
