The protection of Clark Ranch Preserve protects a significant undeveloped landscape at the gateway to Park City’s east entry corridor. Clark Ranch Preserve straddles Highway 40 made up of 340 acres of sagebrush steppe, aspen forests, wet meadows, and riparian corridors. These habitats work together to connect ecosystems, provide an open-space buffer as Park City’s urbanization grows, and strengthen habitat connectivity for deer, elk, birds, and reptiles, and more. Clark Ranch Preserve also features dozens of miles of recreational trails for residents of, and visitors to, Park City.

For several generations, it was owned and grazed by the Clark family, then purchased by the Gillmor family in the 1940’s, who had previously held a grazing lease. In 2015, an open space bond enabled the Park City Municipal Corporation, the grantor of the conservation easement, to purchase the property. The conservation easement recorded in December 2025 permanently fulfills the commitment voters made through the 2015 open space bond.
