CASTLE ROCK RANCH
Protected in 2025
Acreage: 126
Grand County, UT

Castle Rock Ranch sits at the heart of Castle Valley, where irrigated pastures meet the deep red moenkopi cliffs that define Grand County. The ranch feels almost like a time capsule, holding onto a working landscape that reflects both Utah’s agricultural past and its future.
These open fields and sagebrush benches support grazing cattle, local wildlife, and a mosaic of habitats tied to the larger Colorado Plateau. The land also plays an important role in maintaining the rural character of Castle Valley, where agriculture and natural systems remain closely connected.
Castle Rock Ranch is surrounded by a network of conserved lands. Across the road lie the Fryer Family Reserve and Parriott Mesa Preserve. Just up the canyon are the Castleton Tower Preserve, Arrowhead Preserve, and the La Sal Herd Critical Range Preserve. Beyond Adobe Mesa are additional protected areas that stretch toward Fisher Valley and Mary Jane Canyon. Together, these lands create a broad, connected landscape of intact habitat and scenic open space.
Protecting Castle Rock Ranch ensures that these green valley floors at the base of the mesas remain part of this larger conservation tapestry. Its preservation reflects the values held by the people of Grand County and helps safeguard the agricultural, ecological, and scenic qualities that make Castle Valley unique.
