IN MEMORY OF
John Shigeoka

Dr. Shigeoka acted to save lands at risk more times than most know.  Giving a gift in honor of his grandson Alex after already contributing significantly to help save Bonanza Flat was just one example of his care for these open spaces.  He was a fixture at our annual fundraiser along with his daughter Megan and her husband Matt Steward.  He was a true champion of Utah Open Lands and the work to save places threatened by development to ensure that they would be protected for wildlife, for their intrinsic open value and for the community.

At times like these it is always hard to find the words that best communicate our sense of loss, our gratitude for his life and how he will be missed in the days, months and years to come.  What gives us solace is connecting with one of those places he made sure would remain.
