Text Box: Stewardship Journal

Permanent stewardship of the living systems on your land depends on keeping abreast of changes. Utah Open Lands regularly monitors the conservation values of your conservation property. However, stewardship of the Conservation Easement relies fundamentally on an effective collaboration between us, in part because your experiences and observations are valuable for identifying current conditions and trends. One part of collaborating will be to share information about the conservation property. Utah Open Lands will provide you with a monitoring report at least once each year. We invite you to help with the monitoring by sending us your observations and thoughts; to this end we have designed the Stewardship Journal. We will use information from Stewardship Journals to complement Utah Open Lands’ monitoring of the Property. Direct observational data will be considered, as well as information about the intangible values of the land, which are also important for its conservation.

This stewardship journal therefore has two parts: The first part contains the “nuts and bolts” of direct observations and landowner data. The second part is an invitation to express your thoughts and feelings about the conserved open space.
